What People Are Asking Us

Walking with Dogs

CAN YOU WALK MY DOG(S) WHILE I'M AT WORK OR AWAY?

Yes!

Provided we have a way of getting in. Please ensure you keep key(s) in a safe and well hidden place. We always lock up after walks and make sure your pups are nice and comfortable. We can also check food and water if you wish. Some clients book me for 1 hour and split it into 30 minutes of walking and 30 minutes of sitting with the dog to keep them company for a while.

PEOPLE SAY MY DOG IS TOO OLD TO BE TRAINED, IS THAT TRUE?

No.

A dog is never too old to train. I advocate training a puppy once they are use to your home, but that doesn't mean you can't teach an old dog new tricks. I have worked with many rescue's and elderly dogs. Sometimes, they just take a little more time breaking old habits into new good ones. The key is consistency and patience.

MY DOG IS AGGRESIVE, WILL YOU WORK WITH HIM/HER?

Yes!

As soon as a dog demonstrates any aggressive behaviour, it is vital you get it checked out as soon as possible. If your dog has any history of biting, you must get a muzzle and you must write down any triggers and let the trainer know. Getting a dog to stop biting can be a very difficult task. Never discipline your dog as this could make matters worse. Always contact a professional dog trainer as soon as something like this happens.

1. What is dog training, and why is it important?

Dog training is the process of teaching a dog specific behaviours and commands to ensure they are well-behaved, obedient, and safe in various situations. It's essential for building a strong bond between you and your dog, ensuring their safety, and making them more manageable in daily life.

2. When should I start training my dog?

The earlier, the better. Puppies are like sponges and can start basic training as early as 8 weeks old. However, dogs of all ages can benefit from training, and it's never too late to start.

3. What are the different methods of dog training?

There are various training methods, including positive reinforcement (reward-based training), clicker training, obedience training, agility training, and more. The best method depends on your dog's personality, breed, and your training goals.
